Earth is a spherical body spinning to cause day and night effect and the surrounding air strata is called the weather. This spherical model can be replicated in the planar form in a lab as follows.
a flat transparent box contains pressurised air with all the ingredient of the weather chemistry. This chamber sits in a room of cosmic coldtemperature.
The Sun is susbstited by a high power lamp at a certain height.
The trans. box spins at the day and night rate horizontally.
The lamp moves north to south and back at the yearly rate of the planet and the same angle of Umyanna and Dakshinayanna.
So,we have a lab model of the world weather.
Will there be any corelation of air currents inside with those of the real world?
(For the tim being, oceans are eliminated).

Dear Mr Nadkarni,
There is a lot of work going on in Geophysical fluid Dynamics which deals with issues like this. That are many online journals that you could consult.
Best wishes,

read your article today.very nicely written.
Is it ever possible to make monsoon free agriculture by some wonderfulwater storage and distribution networks or it would be a terible waste of money?
Jun 18, 2014 @ 00:23:34
Dear Mr Nadkarni,
The answer is an emphatic “No”, because whatever you do to distribute the water, the basic source is just one and that is the monsoon. If there are two or three national level droughts in succession, all your efforts will be futile.
Sincerely,
Ranjan Kelkar

Indian railways cover the country all over. The rails could be used to store water
and supply all over the nation.Between the hard head over which the wheels roll and the flat base of the rail ,the vertical support plate could also be a water conduit of some kind. The railroad maintainance is of a high class for safety of passeger life which means indirectly a good maintainance of the water connections too which go all over the country. In otherwords,a huge reservoir of water continuously utilised by dependent life patterns.
This is a small challenge for engineers too.
I wish our British compatriots read this too.

Namaskar, very vivid picture of Monsoon, almost all doubts of lay-man can be sollved with a single reading of this artical. Some times with begining of Monsoon, when filling water in Reservoirs like Koynanagar starts, small tremors are noticed near Chiplun,karad,satara&now-a days near Chandloli dam area.Dr.Rao had said in 1967..this water volume is like an ant on the head of an Elephant.!However percolation, vapour formation, nature of water is/was ignored thjat time is my opinion, please note.
The journey of Monsoon will be clear in next week, let us wait&see&wish better Monsoon in the months ahead. shripad phatak.
