    Dear Sir,
This article is really good and basics of monsoon is very well explained in interesting way.

    “आपली अर्थव्यवस्था जशी मॉन्सूनशी निगडित आहे, तशी ती अन्य देशांत नाही”
This itself explains the importance of Monsoon in India.

But the questions still remains in my mind are
    1) Should Indian farmer really depend on the IMD forcast?
    2) When IMD is going to help/guide our Indian farmers for their routine farming work?
    3) When the other given websites gives the accurate forecast, why it is not possible to give the correct and citywise forecast from IMD’s website?
    4) When IMD is getting oriented or focussed towards the benefits of Indian farmers?
    5) Do you think, our labs are fully equiped with the required testing facilities as of date? As per my knowledge, IMD’s Pune office is functining since 1st April 1928, after it got shifted from Simla.

    Thanking you,
    Your Truly

      Dear Shri Jagtap,
I suggest that you visit the Agricultural Meteorology Division of IMD at Pune. Or you can see their website at http://www.imdagrimet.gov.in/
Very useful advisories are framed by IMD in consultation with agricultural experts and these are given in 14 Indian languages twice a week. SMS messages are sent individually to lakhs of registered farmers to their individual cell phones. Farmers are actually using this information in their farming operations.
Citywise and districtwise forecasts are available on IMD’s web site at http://www.imd.gov.in
You can read the history of Simla Office elsewhere on this blog.
      Thanks for your comment,
      Sincerely,

      Dear Shri Jagtap,
I have recently written a Marathi article on the mysteries of the monsoon. It was published in Sakal Saptarang on 15 June 2014. You will find therein the answers to many of your questions and doubts.
      Best wishes,
